•The Index card holds a list of keywords. Clicking on one of them will take you to a reference card.
•Select a word or phrase surrounded by >arrow-heads< in a reference text field. Then using the menu command "Go To Reference" will take you to another reference card keyed on that word.
•You can create a new reference card by selecting a word or phrase in a reference text field and using the Create Reference menu command. If a card for that word (or one close to it) already exists, you'll be taken care of.
•Clicking on the keyword field (found in the upper left area of a reference card) will yield a list of cards that contain that word and could link to it. This list acts like the main index, allowing simple clicking on a word for navigation.
•After a session in XrefText, it is strongly recommended to Re-Index the stack, which lists the new keywords, compacts the stack, and reduces the chance for lookup ambiguities.
•The Back Up menu command allows you to retrace your steps up the hypertrail, while the Back To Index menu item expresses you back to the index card.
•Menu item New XrefText Stack sets up a new empty stack in the XrefText/M format for your use. Multiple stack might be useful for multiple projects, but they will lose linking potential of a single giant stack.
•Toggle Picture in the menu covers the text field area with a white card area, suitable for inserting graphic information in your stack.
•Import Text (again in the menu) allows you to bring in a text file of up to 16K into the current card. If appropriate, it will ask if you wish to add the new text to existing text on the card, or replace it.
•Output in the menu will give you the option of sending either the current card OR the entire stack to either a text file OR to a printer.
•Note: The button at the bottom left of the index card places a custom-icon button on your home card that will work for this or any future XrefText-based stack generated by the New Stack button. The button is named to the name of the stack and refers to that name when invoked. Once you've got the button where you want it, do NOT change its name.
